Chrysler Auditorium (Chrysler Hall, Scope Plaza), 201 Brambleton Ave., Norfolk, VA
Built in 1972 and located next to the Norfolk Scope arena, the venue is home to the Virginia Symphony Orchestra, the Virginia Ballet and hosts Broadway plays while serving as Norfolk's primary theater and concert venue. The City of Norfolk owns and operates the venue. The architect was William M. Wilshire. He was partner in architectural firm of Williams & Tazewell. Brad Tazewell designed the Scope (a horrendous blob) and William M. Wilshire designed the adjoining Chrysler Hall.
Every opera company owes Pavarotti a debt of gratitude, including Virginia Opera at the height of his career in a concert that sold out and overflowed on to the stage at Norfolk's Chrysler Hall on October 2, 1980.
