DeleteI would love the link- wslfowolf2@gmail.com- did you include South Eugene High School, Eugene, Oregon? 2 nights in 1983, if I remember correctly. Most bizarre and interesting Jerry venue- thought about it years later as I watched my children graduate from South, though their graduation ceremonies were at the Hult Center- where the Dead played a year or 2 later. Friends of mine-vaudeville performers- opened and Ken talking about building with cannabis stalks after rolling a huge ball of stems onto the stage..The Dead in '82 in Veneta, The Karamazov's with The Dead in Oakland on New Years...Those and these were and are the good old days...

ReplyDelete### The Encyclopedia of Jerry Garcia Music Venues Kickstarter Campaign
ReplyDeleteThe *Encyclopedia of Jerry Garcia Music Venues* Kickstarter campaign was created as a celebration of the places that shaped Jerry Garcia’s musical journey and the communities that grew around his performances. The project offers fans an opportunity to look beyond the music itself and explore the venues connected with an important chapter in American musical history.
Jerry Garcia is remembered not only for his work with the Grateful Dead but also for his collaborations, solo performances and distinctive influence on generations of musicians. The venues where he performed became part of that story, each carrying its own memories and cultural significance.
A publication focused on these locations can be especially interesting for collectors and longtime music fans. It brings together geography, concert history and personal stories, creating a different way to understand the environments in which Garcia’s music was experienced.
Although the Kickstarter campaign was announced for June 3, 2023, its broader idea remains relevant: preserving music history means preserving the stories of the places where that history happened. Projects like this can help fans discover forgotten venues and appreciate how strongly locations can become connected with an artist’s legacy.
For music enthusiasts, an encyclopedia of Garcia’s venues is therefore more than a list of concert locations. It can serve as a historical record of the stages, cities and communities that helped make his musical career so memorable.
