Acker Gymnasium, Chico State, Chico, CA

Originally constructed and completed in 1961 and named for Art Acker. Acker came to Chico State in 1923. He was a basketball coach at Chico State who lead the Wildcats to the Far Western Championship victory in 1937. He coached every sport at Chico State except skiing and wrestling.
The building was recently renovated with new flooring, seating, and sound system.

For many years it was thought that this show was held at Laxson Auditorium.

    1. Yes, it was at Acker - not Laxson. And after all these years I see that Dave Torbert played bass the first set. I remember the "where's Kahn?" delay then this smiling happy hippie guy shows up on stage with a bass and is waving at folks in the audience. Now I know that it was Dave! I should have recognized him. Good first set. Small crowd standing on the gym floor. Very casual. Dave was a great musician. Really makes this show even more special now. Dave lived in Chico then and passed away much too young - before the end of 82. His song "Contract" on NRPS Powerglide album is the BEST!

    Anybody remember when Cheap Trick played there? The Payolas were the opener. Trying to remember the date. It was probably 1981 or 1982.
